Swingbed
Swingbed is a program created to help patients who are well enough to be discharged from acute care, but are not well enough to go home. Swingbed may also be called Skilled Nursing or Transitional Care at other facilities. The purpose of this program is to assist patients in improving their physical, emotional and social functioning through therapy and skilled nursing care. It also assists family members and caregivers in learning how to help the patient, or how to take care of the patient in the home setting. NGH has been providing swing bed services since 1985.
Eligibility for admission to Swingbed is regulated by Medicare. A three midnight acute care hospital stay within 30 days prior to admission is required. The patient must still need treatment for the same condition that required the acute hospital stay, or a condition relating to the hospital stay. Medicare covers 20 days with no cost to the patient.
Our Swingbed program provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social services, dietary consultation & skilled nursing services as ordered by your primary provider. All disciplines work together to help the patient achieve prior level of functioning or better, and to help them be able to perform activities of daily living as long as possible.
We would love to have the opportunity to serve the members of our community. If you, or someone in your family, have the need for Swingbed services, remember it is your choice at what facility you receive the services. Please ask for a referral to be sent to Noxubee General Hospital and give us the honor of helping keep our community healthy.
